Japanese traditional crafts possess intricate techniques and a profound cultural background developed over a long history. However, their presence has been fading in contemporary society. This exhibition, in collaboration with "Suigenkyo," which documents the production processes of traditional crafts across Japan and shares their charm with an international audience, has led to participation in "Osaka Art & Design" through the development of new products alongside traditional artisans.In irodori #01, we interviewed artisans specializing in Ikkanbari, lacquerware, and bamboo crafts. Under the concept of "Adding a touch of like to your daily life," we aim for these traditional crafts to once again bring vibrancy to the heart of daily life and culture. Through this exhibition, we hope visitors can tangibly feel how traditional crafts can thrive and be utilized in modern living.Some of the exhibited items are being considered for further refinement and sale on Suigenkyo's e-commerce site, so we encourage you to stay tuned for our future endeavors.
日本の伝統工芸は、長い歴史の中で培われた精緻な技術と深い文化背景を持っているが、現代社会ではその存在が遠ざかりつつある。今回の展示は、日本各地の伝統工芸の制作過程を取材し、その伝統と文化の魅力を海外に向けて発信する『水玄京』さんの協力を得て、伝統工芸師の方々と共に新たな商品を開発しながら「Osaka Art & Design」に参加するに至った。irodori ♯01では、一閑張、漆、竹を扱う伝統工芸師の知識と技術をヒアリングし、「毎日のlifeに少しのlikeを。」というコンセプトのもと、これらの伝統工芸が再び生活と文化の中心に彩りを与える存在になることを目指した。この展示を通じて、現代の生活においても伝統工芸がどのように息づき、活用されるかを具体的に感じてもらえればと思う。展示品のいくつかはさらに改良を加え、『水玄京』さんのECサイトでの販売も検討しているので、今後の活動にもぜひ注目してもらいたい。
