We designed a music bar in Dogenzaka, Shibuya. In a backstreet of Shibuya, bustling with Japan's cutting-edge culture and trends, we sought to create a modern Japanese-style space where guests can enjoy music and drinks. Our concept was to blend the contemporary nature of a music bar with the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, creating a new entertainment spot. The walls feature a design that conceals the pillars, allowing for a simple and efficient layout. The materials used in the space are chosen to exude quality, with colors that evoke a sense of Japanese tradition. The bar counter incorporates ibushi tiles, commonly used in traditional Japanese houses, and the projector screen uses washi paper, merging traditional beauty with modern technology. Additionally, the back bar incorporates a display shelf designed in the style of a tokonoma, combining functionality and aesthetics. As a symbolic piece of art, we placed a 200-year-old wooden Daruma mold, drawing visitors into a unique world. We have created a music bar that expresses contemporary culture through traditional Japanese styles and materials. We hope this venue will become a place that generates and supports Japan's cutting-edge culture in the years to come.
渋谷区道玄坂に設計したミュージックバー。日本の最先端のカルチャーや話題あふれる渋谷の裏街にふさわしい音楽とお酒を楽しめる和モダンな店舗空間が求められた。 我々はミュージックバーという現代的な業態に、日本の美意識である侘び寂びを違和感なく取り入れた、新たなエンターテイメントスポットをコンセプトに計画を進めた。 柱型が目立たない壁面デザインで、シンプルかつ効率的なレイアウトとし、和の趣を感じる色調で空間に上質さを与えるマテリアルで空間を構成した。バーカウンターには日本の伝統的な家屋で使われるいぶし瓦を採用し、プロジェクターのスクリーンには和紙を使用して日本の伝統美と現代技術を融合させた。また、バーバックには床の間の様式を取り入れたデザインとし、店の象徴となるアートピースとして約200年前の木型の達磨を鎮座させ、訪れた人を独特な世界観へ引き込んでいく。 日本の伝統的な様式や素材で現代のカルチャーを表現した、日本のミュージックバーを実現した。 この店舗がこれからの日本の最先端のカルチャーを生み、支える場所になることを願う。
